Where it all began...
A family run company which was founded in 2010, Nuclear Races has become one of the UK’s most award-winning obstacle course brand, renowned for delivering exhilarating muddy challenges that cater to all fitness levels.
Based in Brentwood, Essex, our flagship events attract over 20,000 corporate participants annually, alongside thousands of fun runners who embrace the thrill of conquering more than 45 man-made obstacles across varied terrains.
The Parrish family brought back the Bunker in 1992 from the government, and has been open to the public since the late 90s. It offers a unique slice of Cold War history, right here in Essex, to create an unforgettable day out.
Our mission is to inspire individuals and teams to push their limits, fostering resilience, teamwork and a sense of achievement, whilst maintaining our family-run values. Whether you’re a seasoned athlete or a first-timer, Nuclear Essex offers an unforgettable experience that challenges both body and mind.

At Nuclear Essex, we offer more!
Expanding on our offerings under the Nuclear Essex umbrella, we have grown from our humble beginnings to introduce Nuclear Wild Forest in 2017, a dedicated outdoor obstacle activity centre, and Nuclear Adventures, the largest high ropes course in Essex, featuring a 50ft Big Drop, with axe and knife throwing available at both venues.
In addition, we also offer an exciting fitness race featuring six fitness stations, each separated by a 1 km run, no running if they chose to do Fit Storm. Launched in May 2022 with just 77 racers, Nuclear Fit has exploded in popularity. Fast forward to September 2025, and we proudly wrapped up the season with over 1,000 racers crossing the finish line in September.
We added a new, fun, muddy race called Nuclear Mud Tribe in September 2025, targeted at those less competitive mud racers.
