Sam Alexander

Wild Forest Manager

I am the first point of contact at Wild Forest.  I always go the extra mile to make your experience a memorable one.You will always spot me with a camera in hand getting action shots for social media.  I love seeing people overcome their fears on the obstacles, working together as a team and having loads of #lovemud fun out on course. I love training outdoors & I am a member of Nuclear Striders Running Club. I have recently qualified via England Athletic as a LIRF (Leadership in Running Coach) & I am a qualified level 2 Instructor. If I am not talking about Wild Forest, I can guarantee I will be talking about Nuclear Fit.  The new ultimate outdoor fitness race.

I muddy love my job!!! I have been qualified as an instructor for two years, and I have worked as a bootcamp instructor over that time.  I love being outdoors, and meeting new people, every days so different at Nuclear!!  Running is my favourite type of fitness, especially with my dogs!!

Michael

Lead PT

I am a level 3 PT with a passion for running and cycling. I first entered obstacle races in 2011 and completed Nuclear’s inaugural 42K Oblivion race in 2015. I then transitioned to long distance triathlon having competed in full and half Ironman events for the past 4 years. As a regular open water swimmer, I enjoy the challenge of Ice swimming in the winter months. My motivation and reason for being a PT is to help clients prepare for events in a safe confident way looking at fitness, mental attitude and nutrition.

Working for Nuclear races is different every day. I’m proud to be a part of the team and love its all inclusive attitude. It’s an environment where every visitor and client is made to feel welcome and at home.

Helen

Lead PT

I have the best job in the world!! I’ve been a personal trainer since 2011 and karate instructor since 2012 I also run my own fitness classes for children and adults. I have been into fitness all my life and am passionate about exercise and want to pass that on. I love teaching/training at the Wild Forest as the scenery and conditions changes every day, to teach people the basics on the obsticals is so rewarding.

My qualifications are level 3 Personal Trainer, level 3 Pre-Post Natal, level 2 children in exercise 0-5 and 5-16, 2nd Dan Black belt karate, 1st Dan Black belt Kick Boxing, First Aider at work and Mental First Aid.

Kelly

Lead PT

I’ve always been into sport whether it’s swimming, athletics, Irish dancing or getting muddy running around an obstacle course.

I studied sport development and fitness at College but never thought I’d actually have a career in fitness. But without a doubt this is a best decision I have made.  I love being outdoors and meeting new people.

I have been part of the Nuclear team for three years which within that time I have qualified as an Lead Instructor.  I love seeing others overcoming there fears and completing a task/obstacles they didn’t think they can do. Such a joy to watch and I am very lucky to have a job I absolutely love and work with an amazing team.

Michaela

Lead PT

Mother of 3 boys and 2 German Shepherds I have been lucky enough to come from an incredibly active family from horse riding competitively to competing in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and I’ve always been a country girl. I’m never happier than when I’m outdoors surrounded by nature.

I ran my first Nuclear in 2015, at the finish line in that moment I was absolutely hooked and I’ve never looked back. I have taken great pleasure in the subsequent years introducing my family to the joys of Nuclear Races too.

I love helping people of any age overcome their fears and work completely outside of their comfort zone, it’s truly awesome being in a position to help people do something they never thought they could and be witness to that sense of achievement, being able to do this alongside my love of nature with the Wild Forest Team is for me, the best job ever.

Emma

Lead PT

I am experienced and qualified in Wado-Ryu (4th Dan) and Jujitsu (2nd Dan). I am a certified instructor who manages and leads multiple martial arts schools in Essex.

I really enjoy working at Nuclear alongside the amazing Wild Forest team. As a lead instructor I take pride in helping all abilities attempt and tackle the mud and obstacles, and seeing that moment of triumph on their faces afterwards is so rewarding.

“Life is an adventure, and Wild Forest is the playground. Get muddy, tackle the obstacles, and enjoy!!”

Vanessa

Admin Assistant / Back Runner

After suffering ill health due to stress I finally decided that I needed to fight back and re-started my 10 year lapsed running career and as my 1st challenge I took on a Nuclear Races.

I faced more fears and challenges that day in one race than ever before, loved every second and have never looked back.

Then from training at Wild Forest to working here and to getting to be a part of helping people face those fears and challenges and win through is what makes Wild Forest such an exceptional place to work.

On race days you’ll find me waiting with a hot cuppa on the finish line…..see you in the mud :-).

Lisa

Lead PT

I am level 3 qualified and worked as a PT for 17 years, I have always had a passion for health and fitness and was very sporty through my childhood.  I love seeing people enjoy themselves and getting results which is why I enjoy teaching so much.  My main sports I compete in are Dressage and bikini bodybuilding.

I also enjoy OCR and outdoor life which is why working at Wild Forest is so much fun.

I am an author of Lifeline, a mental health advocate, life coach and the founder of Lifeline, an organisation dedicated to helping individuals reconnect with themselves, reach their potential and thrive through coaching, mentoring, and peer support. I am a former Police Officer with more than 15 years. My favourite part of working at Nuclear is seeing how the children develop through the day. Great fun, great place, great people.

Steve

Team PT

I have participated in many Nuclear Races and have also ran 3 marathons and many half’s. I have also taken on the 3 peaks challenge twice both in the winter months and completed the last one in January 2018. My love for the mountains has seen me take part in the Fan dance collection, these are special forces selection test over the Brecon range in Wales open to the public. I love working as team member and love being a part of Nuclear team, where we can help people over come fears they may have and help them conquer the obstacles out there on course.

Lauren

Team PT

I entered myself and my kids into the Rush weekend and we were all hooked!

I’m a qualified level 3 personal trainer, level 1 triathlon coach and naturopathic health coach.

I love sharing my passion for exercise and fitness with adults and kids.  Seeing people grow in confidence and helping people to empower themselves through movement is fantastic!

I love weight training, swimming, running, cycling and getting to be outside ! I have 3 children and changing from my desk job in canary wharf to running around the Wild Forest and working as a personal trainer was the best decision I ever made!

Ricky

Water Safety

I started my journey running my first Nuclear Races in 2017 & I was hooked. I could not get enough of the amazing people and the fun & when the opportunity to join the team arose I jumped at it. I joined the team in 2021 working mainly at Nuclear High Ropes and I back run for large events at Wild Forest & I am part of the water safety team. Not many people can say they do their hobbies as a job.

Chris

NR Striders Running Coach

Aside from the usual 9-5 day job behind a desk (which I do enjoy J ) I have volunteered for the Red Cross for a number of years and been an Ambulance first responder.

My main passion is running, and became involved with several running clubs in the Essex area over a number of years. Currently qualified with England Athletics LiRF and coach at my local club near Chelmsford.

After taking part in Fallout in 2015, my involvement with the Nuclear family has increased year by year. Starting with back running. I became involved with Nuclear Striders and the Nuclear Races team.  When I’m not in the Forest loving mud, we as a group can be located at Park runs and a regular training sessions which are increasing.  Seeing anyone improve and enjoy themselves is most important to me.

Finish Line not Finish time!

Jane

Back Runner & Water Safety

I have been involved with Nuclear Races since the beginning.  My main role is managing the Nuclear Races merchandise but I also backrun for larger events and I am part of the water safety team.  I adore getting out on course & seeing people challenge themselves, overcoming their fears & most importantly having fun in the mud!

Steve

Back Runner

Steve, aka Bakes, started out running races but quickly wanted to get more involved. He began marshalling the main events, then progressed to back-running at Wild Forestand hasn’t looked back since! Steve loves being outdoors, spending his days covered in mud, having fun, laughing and helping people conquer the obstacle course.

Naomi

Back Runner

I have worked outdoors all of my career doing horse riding instruction and education and horse care. I remain working with horses but wanted a bit of a change of scene this year and came across wild forest by recommendation of a friend.
I started working as a back runner and water safety through the summer of 2025 and absolutely loved it! It so great to watch and help people over come fears, push themselves and just generally have fun. The team at nuclear are also excellent to work with and I was able to fit this work in around my equine work. I’m very fortunate to have jobs that I love.
